THE CITY OF MONROE WILL BE AWARDED $1,629,040 TO CONSTRUCT FISH PASSAGE IMPROVEMENTS TO IMPROVE FISH PASSAGE THROUGH THE RIVER RAISIN. THIS WORK WILL FURTHER THE RECOVERY GOALS OF THE RIVER RAISIN AOC BY COMPLEMENTING OTHER SIGNIFICANT RESTORATION EFFORTS AND STRENGTHENING SOCIOECONOMIC, HISTORICAL, AND RECREATIONAL BENEFITS OF THE RIVERS FISHERIES. THIS PROJECT WILL ALSO SUPPORT DECADES OF RESTORATION EFFORTS WHILE IMPROVING THE ECOLOGICAL SECURITY NEEDED TO SUSTAIN A HEALTHY FUNCTIONAL RIVER SYSTEM. THIS WORK IS BEING FUNDED BY THE NOAA GREAT LAKES FISH HABITAT RESTORATION PARTNERSHIP GRANTS.
